Frank, Ian and Andy go hiking in Kentucky

Friday 26 September 2008
The three of us left Cincinnati early for a day in Daniel Boone National Forest with hikes in the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park only stopping off at the Lexington "Bob Evans" for a gargantuan breakfast to feed the third world of ~
Me : Rise and Shine with eggs, bacon, potatoes and biscuits
Brother Ian : a plateful of blueberry crepes
Frank : omelet with pancakes (plus extra pancakes requiring a take out box with extra maple syrup just in case we met the odd hungry bear)

Duly stuffed we set off on the Auxier Ridge trail ~ supposedly some 4 miles of hiking as long as you stuck to the trail which is recommended as nipping off for a comfort break can bring hazards of the rattling kind ~ seems they don’t take kindly to showers of that variety!
Also not recommended to wear shorts for similar reasons though I wished I’d followed Ian’s lead as it was warm!!
Following pictures are from Red River Gorge : ~
